The beautiful island of Bali is calling to travelers worldwide, but before you pack your bags, it’s important to understand the entry requirements. This blog post will serve as your guide to navigating visas and who can travel to Bali.
Visas for Bali
In most cases, you’ll need a visa to enter Bali. There are a couple of exceptions:
- Citizens of ASEAN countries and Timor Leste: Holders of passports from these countries can enjoy visa-free entry for stays up to 30 days.
- Everyone Else: For most nationalities, a visa is required.
There are two main visa options for tourists:
- Visa on Arrival (VoA) or B211A E-Visa: This is the most common option for stays under 30 days. You can apply for the VoA online or upon arrival at the airport. Citizens of around 90 countries are eligible for this visa.
- 211A Visa: This visa is required for stays longer than 30 days or for purposes other than tourism. You’ll need to apply for this visa in advance at an Indonesian embassy or consulate.
General Entry Requirements
Here are some general requirements to keep in mind, regardless of your visa type:
- Valid Passport: Your passport must be valid for at least six months from your arrival date and have at least one blank page for entry stamps.
- Return Ticket: You’ll need to show proof of onward or return travel.
- Bali Arrival Fee: As of February 14, 2024, all travelers must pay a 150,000 IDR arrival fee.
- Customs Declaration Form: Fill out this form upon arrival in Bali.
Recent Changes to Entry Requirements (as of June 2024)
The good news for travelers is that Bali has recently relaxed some entry requirements:
- No Pre-departure PCR Tests: Fully vaccinated travelers no longer need a negative pre-departure COVID-19 test.
- No Vaccination Certificate Verification: Proof of vaccination is no longer required for entry.
- No Mandatory Quarantine: There is no mandatory quarantine upon arrival.
Double-Check Requirements Before You Fly
While the information above provides a general overview, visa and entry requirements can change. It’s always best to double-check the latest regulations with the Indonesian embassy or consulate in your home country or by referring to official Indonesian government websites before booking your trip.
